Hello, I'm Kayla!
Therapist. Real person. Honest conversations.
Therapy with me is less about giving advice or pretending to have all the answers, and more about having real conversations that help you understand yourself a little more clearly. It's a space where you can stop performing, stop overthinking everything for a minute, and actually sort through what’s been weighing on you.

The work we do together is about understanding your patterns instead of just living inside them. It’s about figuring out what actually matters to you, what’s been getting in the way, and how to move through life in a way that feels more grounded and like your own.
Registered Psychotherapist (CRPO)
Master's in Counselling Psychology
Virtual across Ontario
In-person in Ottawa

It’s not about thinking it through more. It’s about giving yourself the space to actually hear yourself.
Here's the gist
How it works
1.
Look around a bit
Take a look around and see if my approach feels like a good fit for you.
2.
Reach out
Book a quick chat so we can connect, no pressure, no weird pitch, just a real conversation.
3.
Let's get into it
We book your first session and start unpacking what's been going on for you.
4.
Keep it going
We'll keep sorting through what matters and help you move forward in a way that feels like you.

How can we work together

Individual therapy
Most people who sit across from me are already the ones everyone else counts on. Capable, dependable, and quietly exhausted from running the math on every decision before making it. Together, we'll work on:

-
Untangling the overthinking so decisions stop feeling like a threat
-
Understanding where the pressure to hold everything together actually came from
-
Setting boundaries without the guilt that usually follows
-
Making room for what you want, not just what everyone else needs from you
-
Recognizing the patterns keeping you stuck in the same exhausted place
I draw on Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy, and attachment-based work, not as a script, but because together they help you stop analyzing your feelings and start experiencing something different.
For when your brain won't stop talking and none of it feels helpful. We'll slow things down and help you move in a direction that feels more like you.

Some fights aren't really about the dishes, the plans that fell through, or who said what last Tuesday. They're about something older, showing up dressed differently each time. Together, we'll work on:
-
Recognizing the pattern behind the recurring fight, not just the fight itself
-
Understanding what each of you is really asking for when things get tense
-
Rebuilding communication that doesn't end in shutting down or blowing up
-
Reconnecting outside of conflict, not just managing it when it happens
This work draws heavily on Emotionally Focused Therapy. Sessions run 50 or 80 minutes, depending on how much room you need to get somewhere instead of circling the same point.
Couples therapy
If you keep having the same argument on repeat, or you're missing each other lately, we'll get into the pattern behind it.

Some weeks, you want to sit in a room with another person. Other weeks, the idea of getting in the car feels like one more thing on a list that's already too long. That's why therapy with me is built around flexibility:
-
In-person sessions available in Ottawa, in a space designed to feel calm rather than clinical
-
Virtual sessions available anywhere in Ontario
-
Move between formats from session to session, depending on your week
-
No long-term commitment to one format; this can shift as your life shifts
Therapy already asks a lot of you emotionally. The logistics shouldn't be another barrier.
In-person or virtual therapy
Come in, stay home, sit in your car between errands, or take your session on your lunch break. We keep this flexible and realistic.

Anxiety doesn't always look like what people expect. Sometimes it's the racing thoughts at 2am. Sometimes it's rereading a text five times before sending it, or replaying a conversation from three days ago. Sometimes it's just never fully feeling settled, even when nothing is technically wrong. Together, we'll work on:
-
Understanding what's actually driving the anxious loop, not just managing the symptoms
-
Learning to notice the spiral before it takes over
-
Building a different relationship with uncertainty instead of trying to eliminate it
-
Quieting the constant mental noise so decisions stop feeling so loaded
-
Recognizing when anxiety is doing the talking instead of you
I draw on Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and somatic-informed approaches to help you feel less at the mercy of your own mind, and more able to trust yourself again.
Anxiety counselling
Not always panic, sometimes it's just constant tension, second-guessing, and running through every "what if."

Just in case you're wondering
Questions people ask before booking
What does a session cost?
Individual sessions are $160 for 50 minutes. Couples sessions are $180 for 50 minutes, with an 80-minute option if you need more time to get through something.
In-person, virtual, or both?
Both, and you can switch depending on the week. In-person is in Ottawa, virtual covers all of Ontario.
Can I use this for insurance?
Yes. You'll get a receipt after every session to submit to your provider.
What if I'm still not sure this is the right move?
That's exactly what the free call is for. You don't need to be certain before you reach out. You just need to be curious enough to ask.

A conversation
before a commitment.
You've probably already thought this through more than most people would. Whether this is the right time, the right therapist, the right decision. That's kind of the whole problem, isn't it. So before anything else, let's just talk. Fifteen minutes, phone or video, no notes taken, no pressure to decide anything on the spot. You'll get a feel for how I work, I'll get a feel for what you're carrying, and we'll both know if this is worth building on.
